Pernes-les-Fontaines is 15mins N of l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue , 30 mins NE of Avignon, 2hr 40 min by train (TGV) from Paris to Avignon ( or 3hr from CDG Airport.)
This handsome 18th century three-story home of approximately 2500 sq.ft. has been remodeled and renovated top to bottom. The owner has respected and saved authentic Provencal architectural details such as the old ceiling beams, stone fireplaces, and original terra cotta tiles in the entryway and central staircase. An unusual glassed-in porch (formerly a provencal ‘soleiado’) at the top of the house affords a romantic night-time view of the town’s illuminated medieval tower and the starry sky. Warm, pastel colored walls, faux-stone mixed with original terracotta tile floors, and authentic Provencal tile work are found throughout the house.
The spacious, high-ceilinged living room with dining area on the ground floor offers comfortable seating, a drop-leaf dining table serving up to eight with extensions, a large stone fireplace, traditional painted beams, tasteful accent pieces and well-designed lighting. The living room has TV and DVD player with a good library of classic films, games, small radio & CD player, telephone & high speed, wireless internet. Across the entryway, the completely remodeled eat-in kitchen is fully equipped for cooks with its farm-style sink, traditional French pine table with chairs, gas stove, oven, dishwasher and American-standard refrigerator. A small tiled half-bath is located right off the kitchen. French doors open from the kitchen to the leafy terrace featuring a cafe-style patio table and chairs for al fresco dining to the sound of your very own terrace-wall fountain and plants (bamboo, jasmine, oleander, lavender). From the patio, there is a gate with access to the garden where a small pool is available for use by the rental guests (shared with owner.) Four large bedrooms each with full size twin beds.
